To those that are disabled or covered under FMLA, be wary. There is a toxic working atmosphere. Document, get witnesses, do your research, and/or consult a lawyer before the need arises. To those that are patients here or are seeking employment, be wary. Exams are sometimes not properly done nor are test results always reported or reported in a timely manner to patient or licencing boards. Ask questions and know that you have rights. Google your health care providers, use reputable sites like Iowa licensing boards, Iowa Hospital Foundation to make sure you get the best possible healthcare experience. Make sure to ask what other treatments can be done, even if it is done at another facility so that you can informed choices to meet your healthcare goals and budget.
Patient safety an issue here, very toxic working culture. I found that management and employees show disregard for disability and employment laws, hospital policies, and often intimidate, target, harass, and abuse those employees that are covered under ADA/FMLA laws. I found HIPPA laws are not fully understood nor followed by management or employees i.e. breaches not reported to patient or to Iowa Civil Rights office. Physicians here do NOT document sample medications given in clinic visit notes nor do they do they ask for an updated medical history when applicable.
